Aquaponics in Wisconsin – an ecological means to healthy food

A story about aquaponics in Wisconsin, what it is, and the diversity of farms and people using this method to raise fish and grow greens. People are starting aquaponic farms for diversity, growth, and sustainability, and they range from small community based, to family farms, to one of the largest in the largest in the country.

Learn about aquaponics, hear from a representative group on the diversity, what they’re doing, benefits, obstacles, and why they got into it. Film includes visits to The Farmory Green Bay, Nelson and Pade, Floating Gardens Aquaponics of WI, Clean Fresh Food, and Superior Fresh. They cover the gamut of small community based, to farms looking for diversity, to a surprisingly large system in the middle of Wisconsin. I also found a farm cafe raising their own vegetable and fish with aquaponics, but ran short of time for this release – the Farmstead Creamery & Cafe.
